Independent developer & maker

Real-world problems.
Hands-on solutions.

I’m Paul. I build software and hardware for the things I know firsthand — from running a karaoke show to making everyday work a little simpler.

Selected work

Tools with a purpose.

Music, creative work, and everyday utility.
A mix of released tools and works in progress.

Desktop app

Auto-KJ

A karaoke show-running platform that brings the host console, singer rotation, phone-based requests, and a venue kiosk into one workflow. Built around the practical needs of hosting a show.

Rust · Tauri · Svelte · PostgreSQL

Windows desktop releases, with a companion singer web app. Source code is private.

Published release

OpenKJ

My community-maintenance fork of the established open-source karaoke host. The fork documents playback, data-integrity, and security fixes while keeping the familiar rotation and library workflow.

C++ · Qt · GStreamer · CMake

v3.0.1 published. Created by the original OpenKJ community — this is maintenance work, not my original creation.

In development

Pixelforge

An open-source desktop image editor with layers, masks, and non-destructive AI results. A provider-based workflow connects image generation and editing to the same document.

Tauri · Svelte · TypeScript · WebGL2

Open-source project in active development; release packaging is in progress.

Desktop + Android

ChordScout

Local-first tools for estimating guitar chords from audio. Desktop and Android versions pair a synchronized timeline with fretboard diagrams, helping musicians inspect and refine the results.

Python · PySide6 · Kotlin · Jetpack Compose

Windows installer and Android test builds available. Chord detection provides estimates you can review and refine.

Alpha

NeonHearth

A local-first Windows and Linux network-monitoring project. Device discovery and a 3D Home Twin explore a clearer view of networks you own or administer, with approval boundaries for sensitive actions.

Rust · Axum · SQLite · Svelte · Three.js

Early-stage alpha, exploring local network visibility. Not a production security product.

Private source

ERS Timesheet Pro

A mobile-friendly timesheet and receipt app that calculates weekly hours and maps entries onto a printable paper form. Live tracking and save-and-resume support the way field work actually happens.

HTML · CSS · JavaScript · PWA · FastAPI

Private-source project developed around practical field-work paperwork.

Selected projects include released software, open-source maintenance, and ongoing development.

A little about me

Built from
hands-on experience.

I’m an independent developer and hands-on maker. I like building things that earn their place in everyday life.

Years of karaoke hosting shape how I approach software: a tool needs to make sense when the room is busy and the next singer is waiting. My background in technical support, biomedical equipment, and field installation brings the same practical perspective to the rest of my work.

I build both software and hardware, and I use AI-assisted development as part of that process. I bring the problem-solving, product direction, and real-world feedback, working alongside AI tools and open-source communities.
